All competitive events with an online component will be posted here. Students can enter their data directly on the form. As an alternate method, write the text in a word processor and cut and paste into the form. Students may already have had similar experiences with online state testing.
Food Webs … Owl Pellets
First submission of data: NEW DATE EXTENSION: Friday, December 15, 2017
On or before this date, a team of students will submit observations, identifications, and conclusions about their findings from the owl pellet activity. Only one submission may be made per team.
Second submission of data: NEW DATE EXTENSION: Friday, January 19, 2018 (link INACTIVE)
On or before this date, students will respond to additional questions regarding owl habitats, owl food webs and ecological considerations related to owl habitats.
Pill Bugs (or Mealworms)
Students will submit evidence of their work online for scoring, including several mandatory deadlines in advance of the Science Olympiad tournament date. This is a significant variation from the rules described in the manual. Note that the due dates are well in advance of the date of the Science Olympiad tournament dates.
First submission of data: Wednesday, November 15, 2017
On or before this date, students will submit the name of their project, the question they have selected to investigate, a description of how they will house and care for the pill bugs or mealworms, and the procedure they plan to follow.
Second submission of data: Friday, January 12, 2018
On or before this date, students will submit a summary of their observations, along with any changes to the procedure or protocols that may be required by their initial observations. A photo of the students and the experimental set-up may be required.
Final submission of data: Friday, February 2, 2018
On or before this date, students will submit their data, observations and conclusions.
