• Why is the Los Angeles County Science Olympiad implementing online sign ups for self-schedule events?
Scheduling online will minimize the early morning crush of sign ups as the Olympiad competition begins. This should benefit student competitors and Event Captains both. In addition, each team will know the schedule for each student prior to the day of the competition. The number of last second changes on the day of the competition should be minimized as well.

  • How do I schedule my team for a self-scheduled event?
On-line scheduling of self-scheduled events will open at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2011. Online scheduling will close at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.

    No password is needed.

Teams may select competition times during those two weeks only . NOTE: A team may only schedule (and compete in) one time slot for a particular self-scheduled event.

Teams that do not schedule competition times on-line will be scheduled the day of the Science Olympiad.

  • How does online scheduling work?
Once the site opens, a "Click here to sign up" button will be displayed in the available time slots.  For each event, click on the button for the time slot that you would like to compete in.

Once you click the button, you will be taken to a form to provide your team information.  You are required to provide you team number, school name, coach's name and email address.

Only your team number and school name will be display publicly on the sign up, and only the event organizers will have access to the other information provided.

The coach's name and email address will not be displayed on the web and are only used for contacting your team if there are any questions or problems with your sign up.

You may wish to create an undo code during the signup process. If you do so, and space is available, you will have the ability to change your time until the sign up is closed.

Once you have successfully signed up for a time, the "Click here to sign up" button will no longer be available in that table cell, and your team number and school name will be displayed.

  • When does my team set up for Awesome Aquifer B or Junkyard Challenge B?
Please note that for Awesome Aquifer B, the time you're signing up for is the time you're expected to be there at the venue ready for Station 1. The participants can expect to be there for about 50 minutes.

For Junkyard Challenge B, the time you're singing up for is the time you're expected to begin your 30 min construction for the device.

If the participants arrive late to their sign up time, they may be not given the full 30 minutes that they could have.

Teams must sign-up during this sign-up period in order to insure that they are able to participate. No late scheduling or requests to add the day of the Science Olympiad will be permitted.
